Lead Blendshape Artist

The ideal candidate for this position has at least 5 years of experience as a blendshape artist in a production or game environment. You should be adept at self managing to meet required deadlines. Able to anticipate and find solutions to problems that happen within the team. And be able and willing to contribute and collaborate to create shading solutions that are production capable in both realtime and pre-rendered projects.

Responsibilities

  • Tasked with bringing highly-realistic faces to life for both pre-rendered and real time projects
  • Responsible for tweaks to the topology edge-flow and refinement to key assets
  • Tasked with sculpting a full set of blendshapes for believable and expressive realistic human faces
  • Tasked with sculpting a full set of blendshapes for believable and expressive fantasy/stylized faces
  • Creation of wrinkle maps for polish and nuance
  • Tasked with being the guardian of quality and consistency for all characters
  • Create and lead others in the creation of advanced facial and expression modeling
  • Lead, teach, critique, and mentor team members
  • Works with other leads to create and improve production process

Required skills

  • Solid knowledge of Maya, Zbrush, and/or Mudbox
  • Solid knowledge of facial rigs
  • Solid knowledge of blendshapes
  • Strong communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A want to learn new techniques and software
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly

Desired skills

  • 5 years plus employment in the Film, Television, Commercial, or Game industry
  • Solid knowledge of facial anatomy
  • Solid knowledge of Perforce
  • Outcome driven and highly efficient
  • Ability to operate autonomously with a strong sense of personal responsibility for task completion
