Senior Realtime Tech Artist
Location: London or Stockholm (Hybrid – Office presence strongly preferred)
Type: Various, Expression of Interest
About Us
Since 2014, we’ve been bringing imagination to life through world-class technology and extraordinary talent. As a global studio spanning Scanning, Mocap, VFX, Cinematics and Animation, our employees are part of shaping what’s next.
The Role
We are building a talent pool of experienced Senior Realtime Technical Artists to support upcoming realtime projects at Goodbye Kansas Studios across Cinematics, VFX and Realtime. This is an expression of interest rather than a single live vacancy.
As a Senior Realtime Technical Artist, you would work closely with the Realtime Supervisor and wider Realtime, Pipeline and Production teams. You would play a key role in shaping how realtime is used across projects, helping teams reach ambitious visual quality and performance targets while keeping workflows practical and scalable.
You would contribute hands-on in engine, support pre-production and bidding phases, and help bridge creative intent with technical execution. Your work would directly impact how we deliver realtime projects for clients, and how we continue to evolve our realtime capabilities as a studio.
What You'll Do
Enable the team to deliver high quality realtime shot and sequence work including scene assembly, lighting, look development and optimisation in Unreal Engine
Support pre-production by helping define project specific realtime workflows, technical approaches and feasibility
Evaluate existing pipelines and best practices, identifying gaps, risks or R&D needs and communicating these clearly to leads and supervisors
Integrate client assets into the Goodbye Kansas pipeline and ensure assets meet both client and internal technical requirements
Collaborate closely with Animation, CFX, FX, Lighting and other departments to ensure assets function correctly and efficiently in engine
Monitor performance and optimisation across scenes and sequences, communicating constraints and solutions clearly to leads and production
Troubleshoot technical issues, create or support tool development where appropriate, and help unblock teams during production
Provide technical feedback and guidance to artists, supporting consistent delivery quality across projects
What you will bring
Strong professional experience as a Technical Artist working on AAA games, high end cinematics, virtual production or similar realtime experiences, ideally at Senior or Lead level
High level proficiency in Unreal Engine, with hands-on experience using Unreal on commercial or client facing projects
Experience creating and working with realtime assets and levels, including look development, FX integration, physics considerations and realtime rendering optimisation
Knowledge of cinematic lighting techniques and how to implement them effectively using realtime technologies
A strong visual eye for lighting, realism and overall look development, balanced with technical awareness
Solid understanding of realtime rendering materials, shaders and texture workflows
Experience working with version control systems such as Perforce, Git or similar
Experience developing or supporting tools using Python, Blueprints or other relevant scripting or programming methods
Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to collaborate professionally with colleagues and clients in meetings, calls, written documentation and day to day production workflows
What you might add
Exposure to virtual production projects or on-set workflows
Experience working with in-engine physics systems for cloth, grooms or similar simulations
Experience with rigid body simulations and destruction using Chaos
Background in 3D disciplines such as modelling, texturing, lighting, shaders or dynamics
Experience using additional DCC tools such as Houdini, Blender or similar packages
Experience working with HLSL or other shader languages
Experience with C++
An understanding of colour management in realtime pipelines.
